Boys' Gaelic Success

26th Apr 2024

Another great day for the St. Kevin's Boys' Gaelic Football Team! On Wednesday they overcame St. Therese of Lisieux P.S. on a score line of 4.04 to 2.02 to reach the Championship final. The match was tighter than the score suggests. The lads found scores hard to come by in the second half especially, and the St. Therese goalie was having a great game. St. Therese got a goal early in the second half and it was looking tight, but St. Kevin's were awarded a penalty and it was dispatched brilliantly by Odhran Doran Jones.

It would be fair to say overall however, that in all areas of the pitch St. Kevin's were the stronger team. At the back, Ethan, Caden and PJ let very little past them. Ethan's performance was amazing. The midfield did great work and were prepared to track back too. The forwards, Seamus and Aaron scored some neat points. Then of course the three goals from play scored by Seamus, Cain and PJ were fantastic.

Last, but not least, well done to our super subs, Mason, Shay and Adrian who provided fresh legs throughout the game!

Roll on Wednesday, May 1st for the final against St. Patrick's of Holywood. A massive thank you to the parents for sending their boys to the local Gaelic clubs such as St. John's, St. Paul's and of course our local club O'Donnell's, so the boys could learn to play one of our national games. Special praise and thanks to O'Donnell's GAC and coach James Braniff who deserves huge credit for all he has done to promote Gaelic football in our school. It has been a privilege for me to go and watch all the matches and see the talented footballers that we have in our school. Roll on the final! Ms. Devlin PE Coordinator
