Girls' Gaelic Success

4th Oct 2024

(From Mrs Devlin, PE Coordinator)

The St. Kevin’s Girls gaelic football team went off on Wed. 2nd October to the O’Donnell’s GAC pitch on the Whiterock Road to play in the league blitz.

The girls played St. Joseph’s P.S. Slate Street first and got off to a flying start scoring 3-11 in this game. The midfield did some great catching and passed the ball accurately into the forwards. When the ball did go down the pitch the defenders worked diligently to get the ball back up the pitch. A real team effort.

Next up was St. Patrick’s P.S. of Hollywood. Again the St. Kevin’s girls were able to pass the ball quickly with great support play from the runners going through. This time the girls notched up a tally of 2-10 to St. Patricks one goal. It was a great effort all round and the subs who came on at half time certainly played their part because 1-06 was scored in the second half. Amazing.

The girls' last match was against St. Peter’s P.S. The girls showed no sign of getting tired entering their third game in a row. Infact they seem to be getting stronger and passing the ball to each other with ease. This time they scored 2-14. It was very pleasing to see the wide range of girls who were able to get on the score sheet. Again, the girls were able to get these chances to score because of the very solid defensive work at the back. And we can’t not mention the captain Jessica and Ella in midfield whose efforts was outstanding throughout.

Ms. Devlin was exhausted from having to get the ball back after all these St. Kevin's scores. Thank you girls for all your efforts and we are really looking forward to the semi final in a few weeks.
