P7 Mr McGale Exploring the Famine through art
15th Oct 2017
Mr McGale's class used charcoal and a range of images inspired by the Irish Famine to examine how that time and place is portrayed, and to use their own knowledge and emotions to create their own images.
They explored how to use charcoal effectively, using a range of techniques such as cross-hatching and smudging, along with a range of different thicknesses of charcoal to draw, blend and diffuse. This allowed them to create some wonderfully artistic images, showing their grasp of both the art techniques and the life and times of Irish people during the Famine.
